Take your quilt to the bat tub or kitchen Where ever you have a sprayer. Lightly mist a corner with soapy water like a little laundry soap. Some other soaps have fragances and dyes. Soaps with fragrances have oils you don't need that. Have the colored side on the bottom. Then rinse the bottom of the quilt so it's on top. You know like flipping so the top row is under neath that way it's not going to run to the other side. You can see how it works by just doing a little area. you may want to try some spray and wash or shout.
