I drew my pattern up on paper. Cut it out just outside the cutting lines, sprayed the pattern side with repositional adhesive, and affixed it to the acrylic so we could see the lines.
We used a radial arm saw my husband has in his shop. No special blade needed. Then I sanded it to smooth the rough edges. I traced on the acrylic with permanent ink to transfer the lines (which wasn't so permanent on acrylic). Put a layer of clear contact shelf paper over the top of the tracings so they wouldn't rub off and peeled off the paper pattern on the back.
