I was just saying today that I need to make pot holders, love you pot holders, and what a nice gift they would make.
Do you make your binding on the bias, or just cut a strip?[/quote]
I made the block from that great online block stop...quilter's cache...it was a Christmas 2001 or something like that...once block was made, I then stacked the block, then the heat resistant batting and then the backing. I then used my open toe, dropped the feed dogs and quilted in the block pieces all the way around. Then and only then did I think....about the binding:)LOL I was going to sew a strip all the way around and then whip it down in the back...only I was looking at a good piece from the back. Since I didn't plan ahead for that...I was a smidgen shorter on one side then the other. But, plowed forward...I just folded the backing 1/4" for seam and then pulled it into position....once set, I sewed all the way around..and, you can see I did it twice. For my thinking was if they used it alot then I didn't want any of that binding to sneak out plus the fact it helped lay it down better. HOpe that helps:)Skeat
