Hello Guy and welcome to the forum. You obviously want this to be a surprise, so why not try a bit of subtle curiosity. Flick through one of her quilt magazines, they usually feature a sewing machine or two and casually slip in how impressive these latest computerized machines are then at the right moment casually ask what her dream machine would be.
