There is a tutorial here that shows you how to construct the perfect angle. Bisect that angle and draw yourself a line (that is the center line on my template). I then drew lines at 1/2 inch intervals perpendicular to that center line that intersected the outer edges of the angle. This created the cutting lines. I chose to make mine 7" long and added 1/4" seam allowances around the outer edges (dotted lines). You can extend the arms of the angle as long as you wish them to be but you need to measure the length of the blade from the center line. The first time I did it I tried to measure along the outside edges of the angle and it was not accurate.
