I use the clear plastic boxes. I know that is not what you wanted to hear, but there is a shelf (of sorts) over my sewing machine and I store my fabrice not by colors, but by catagories. Christmas, Halloween, Animals, and one just has words like stars, flowers, music on the label. That way I know what box I want before I reach for it. Could hubby make a shelf like that for you?
