I've found a Spartan that I like, but the stitch length regulator is taped down, as you can see in this picture:

I've seen something similar on a machine before, and was told that the regulator lever would creep up as you sewed, so that the stitches got shorter and shorter. Does anyone have any advice on what might cause this, and how to fix it?
