Technically, I'm not a newbie. I quilted for a few years between college and children. Now, 20 years later, I am come back to a fondly remembered hobby, but with significantly less vision. So I am figuring out how to do things all over again.
I can't see the needle on my sewing machine anymore, and I have to use magnifiers to use my tools and see my stitches. So far, going back to doing everything by hand has worked the best - tracing templates, hand cutting, hand piecing, & hand quilting. Good thing I've always enjoyed lap quilting!
