Well how else are we supposed to say it?
I say open the light, too, even though I know it's wrong.
come to think of it, we say 'ouvre la lumiere' or 'ferme les lumieres' here, but it really should be allume or éteint...

My bf says some things in french that are direct translations from english and make NO sense, no matter how many times I correct him ( his french is not as good ) he still says it wrong EVERY TIME... and so does his twin brother.

He will say 'aussi beaucoup' instead of 'autant' meaning as much or as many, but the way he says it is just rediculous... it's not even something he picked up from somewhere else. NOBODY says that, it doesn't make any sense and it drives me crazy! Every time he goes to say it I cringe and I'm thinking 'don't say it, don't say it!!!' and he does it EVERY time!!! GAH!
