Default So what did I miss? Class 32 Singer Question

Late last evening an ad popped up on CL for an "Antique Leather Sewing Machine" $40
I was the first responder - seller didn't know much if anything about it. The stand was broken - the table top was heavy and it had a larger than usual bobbin winder mounted to it.
From the photos I figured out that it was a Singer and some iteration of a Class 32.

I'm not there - yet - so since it wasn't a leather machine and don't have space for non essential floor model machines anyway, I provided all of my research to the seller and passed on it.

Was this a grievous error? An mistake of herculean proportion? Of perhaps I did the right thing by letting it go to a collector who knew what to do with it?
The ad was gone today so I assume it was snapped up.

The machine shown is not the one for sale - presented for visual reference only.
