It's going to be a"chili" day here this weekend too. I'm like Honchey but add my own spices until I think it tastes right I like to put chili atop a baked potato and cheddar cheese.
Hope Bram gets on the mend soon.

An adaptation of my tattered and well loved "More With Less" cookbook.

6 qts unsweetened applesauce
6 c sugar
1 c cider vingegar
1T ground cinnamon
2 t ground cloves

Place in 300° oven proof bowl or roasting pan for 3 hours stirring every 20 minutes. I usually stir when I think about it! My large stainless steel bowl works great. Then process in hot water bath for 15 minutes (pints). A fall treat all year long.
