If you can get a piece of 4x4 plywood or have someone cut you one that you can use on a table, you will probably have better results. Usually a piece the size of your cutting mat. Ironing boards really aren't that wide or stable. If your cutting mat is 36x36 then I would have it cut atleast 4x4 that would give you 6" on each side. Change your blade often or atleast clean the blade of lint.
