I read about mixing vodka and water on QB a while ago and tried it. It worked pretty well and I didn't see any down side to using it. I did not scent it, as I don't want to put any oils onto my fabric. I have used Mary Ellen's at my LQS when taking a class and I didn't see any difference in the way it presses. I really just prefer distilled water in a fine mister, but if adding the vodka makes my seams lay flatter, I'll use it. Of course, I'm of the mind that vodka should be mixed with tonic or orange juice, but that would definitely not work for ironing.
