I prefer those threads, too, but my Pfaff will take just about anything. If you're having a problem with your machine and threads, try a different needle-sometimes that will help. Connecting threads thread, though considered piecing weight is a lot thicker than Aurifil 50, so it may need a needle with a bigger eye - a topstitch needle. Embroidery needles also have a bigger eye and longer indent on the shaft of the needle to keep the less sturdy thread from being worn when it is sewn. These needles may help your machine accept other threads.
