No Brenda, I used my square 12 1/2" ruler and put some tape across the corner on 5 1/2" and 9". The strips are 2" and you have to make 4 sets of 4 different fabric (I just used the width of the fabric - might need an extra set if your fabric is very narrow) and when the strips are sewn together they have to be 6 1/2".
