That is a great idea! I just made a small ironing pad about 15" sq from an old ironing board pad and an old sheet--encased the pad with a "pillowcase" and sewed it shut. I use this at my cutting station rather than running over to the ironing board. Well I got smart the other day and put this pad on my ironing board thinking it will save wear and tear on the cover and when all stiff from starch etc I will throw it in the washer.
