Calories in Gluten Free treats... Wow
I work for a local coffee roasting company in their bakery.
One of my jobs is to pack orders going out to stores. They bring in several Gluten Free treats (cannot make them in house due to cross contamination).
I was packing orders on Monday and took a look at the nutritional information on 3 of the Gluten Free items. I was completely amazed at the number of calories in the various items.
GF chocolate chunk cookie about 3 inches across has 450 calories
GF Brownie about 2"x2"x1/2" 350 calories
GF Peanut bar 1.5"x3"x1" 350 calories
I have been mostly GF for 3 years and do not like sweets, but I am floored at the number of calories in simple snacks.
If you are eating GF check the labels and see how many calories you are consuming, it may be much more than you expect.
