Another New Guy
Hi,
My name is Rodney and I'm 48 years old. I live in Centralia, WA with my wife Carol and daughter Olivia. My wife and I know basically nothing about sewing but my daughter has expressed a strong interest in learning. I like making pretty much anything and have done a couple simple upholstery projects in the past so would like to learn as well. I joined up because I saw there is a section here for vintage sewing machines and because we all like quilts. I just gave my daughter a 1926 Singer model 101 that I bought over 20 years ago. I refinished the cabinet on it back then and haven't touched it since. It turns out the Singer 101 was Singer's first electric only sewing machine. I am in the process of bringing the machine back into working condition. I expect it to be ready to sew again shortly. It runs and all that's missing is the bobbin and the sliding cover plate for it. I've already found the manual as a free download from Singer and have determined bobbins are still easily available as well. I am impressed with the support Singer offers for their old machines. I thought the manual was a long shot when I started looking for it. I've even found a source for the cover plate. It's just a matter of getting the parts together. This should be fun.
Thanks for reading,
Rodney
