welcome Rodney, we always enjoy new people entering the 'quilting world'. many of us sew on old Singers- they are wonderful machines, easy to maintain, and stitch beautifully. it is so much easier to master a nice straight, even 1/4" seam line on an old singer. we look forward to being part of your 'quilting adventure' . (I lived in Castle Rock, Washington for a few years- it is really nice where you live- sometimes I kind of miss Washington) --- Once you have your machine up & running (or before) visit sites like 'Quilter's Cache' or 'About.com/Quilting' where you can find many free block patterns, help & inspiration to help get you started- there are a couple good quilt shops in Longview too, that may have some beginner classes, books & help.
