I used two layers of 6 oz. poly batting in the flannel quilt--it was really thick, hence the tying!
The blocks were cut 9", but since it is flannel, I used a 1/2" seam allowance, so they wound up 8". I made it from old flannel shirts, nightgowns, pajamas, dresses, etc. that I've been saving for years.
