That looks like a standard short shank machine which means any short shank feet from another machine will fit - not zigzag ones, of course.
Edit: I didn't realize this was an older thread. If the thread isn't picking up, make sure the needle is in correctly. The thread goes through from the opposite side of the flat side of the needle. Not likely to thread from the right (Singer 301s do), but could easily be from the front to back.
