I think that you'll need to get another one. My Janome 6500 needs oil dropped in this wick every little while. If it dries out (or missing in your case) the bobbin rattles, bangs and finally literally jumps out of place. This clattering and jumping makes it impossible to sew. Somebody must have thought it was lint and pulled it out. Your machine will need its wick and oil to run properly.
