I would rather see a ragged out case than an unprotected machine. The machines I got from the hoarder in bad looking cases fared better than the machines in bad looking tables. The cases are a lot of protection. Tables are better if you are using the machine on a regular basis - less battering moving the machine around. For just storing a machine I vote for a case.
