We are doing the same type of gift giving at outs this year, only we did not limit it to notions, also placing a $5.00 amount for the gift, then everyone puts in $2.00 each for a gift Cert. from Joann's that will be purchased, someone's name or number will be drawn for that. Joann's has only been open near us for less than a year,. However we still have to drive 85 miles to get there, but at least it is a new and stocked fabric shop for us, we have to drive the same distance to get to Hobby Lobby and WalMart, and the only quilt shop there as well.
I know this item isn't small, but price wise it fits the bill ($4.99 or 5.99) I don't remember for sure, I recently purchased a 48" metal ruler from Harbor Freight mainly to use when cutting my long strips for borders and bindings, all of my other rulers are only 24" or less. I love it, much better than having to measure many times over or try and use a yard stick. Since it is metal, it doesn't slide around like the acrylic rulers do, and it is just heavy enough to stay put. All of my quilting guild loved it and want to get one.
Chocolate is definitely a Notion- "I have a notion I want some chocolate"!! lol.
I also made a great purchase this summer, and absolutely love them, quilters clamps from Me Sew.com. They are inexpensive for one set of 14, I'm thinking $7.00 , not sure the exact price, they are not at all like the wonder clamps and these I've found to definitely work, I have always used painters tape, but these are life savers. You might want to check them out. You would have time to get them in if your ordered them before Christmas. Have fun at your party
