One easier way I have used. Find a focus or primary color and cut squares. Draw the diagonal line from one corner to the other. Then lay one triangle to left and the other to the right side...they will cling a bit. Stitch 1/4 inch from center on each triangle. Cut diagonally between the two stitch lines. Press and trim to size. The square seems to act like a stabilizer and you have two half square triangles with little bias problem. One side of each will be the focus color. It is not necessary to have the squares all the same color if you really want scrappy.
