Here is the potholder quilt I've been working on. Sewing groups made them during the Civil war for wounded soldiers in the hospital. They would agree on a size, piece, quilt, and bind them then whipstitch them together when the group met. Many of the wounded died and were buried with their quilt so we don't see many of them.

Mine is all different patterns and sizes. I keep making customized blocks to fill in. There is a 3 x 4 inch hole right in the center that my rescued doggie puts her head through to keep an eye on me while I stitch.
