Okay, I will try and see if I can explain. She has a completed Dresden Plate block which looks like a circle of wedges with curved ends. It kind of looks like a flower with the center circle missing.
You lay that plate face down on a solid piece of fabric that is face up. You then stitch around the outside petal shapes of the Dresden Plate. When you have the outside all stitched, you trim the background and clip into the seam allowances at the round ends at intervals so the curves can look nice when you turn the plate right sides out through the hole in the center of the plate. Any clearer?
