Default binding question

i have made a double sided quilt, with the front all in linen.

i am planning to do a knife edge binding to preserve the very clean and modern look of the linen front, but i am wondering about the durability of using linen as the binding fabric.

it is for a couple with no children and it is unlikely to be washed very often, though i am hoping the new owners use it and don't hang it on the wall.

has anyone got some insight into the wear and tear knife edge binding can take? i guess i am little nervous about the linen wearing out along the edges. i am worried about the linen binding strip itself, and the tension created along the edge of the quilt by folding it over. am i being overly cautious?

thanks!
