I use a simply body scrubber, like the kind you get at WalMart for $1. I use it after every cutting session and anytime it looks like the threads are beginning to stick to my mat. I've used this for years and now all my friends have one to use with their mats. It works wonderfully!

However, if the grooves in your mat are too deep, simply flip the mat over and use the back. It's like having a brand new cutting mat all over again! :D
