I did an almost life size woman ... about 5' tall.

I used steam-a-seam lite and I had to use multiple pieces for the width in some places, but the length was a single roll.

I had a few problems where the adhesive on the fusible didn't stick to the fabric but that could have been because I had heavily starched the fabric. They were small area's, along edges, and I was able to work around it by using my glue stick to tack it down - then I stitched it down (using clear poly thread with a darning foot).

I also appliqued the letters in the same way.
