Barb is right try out on clear vinyl and see what makes sense with your top. She is also right about curvy needing straight and straight needing curvy. I did the same pattern for a friend's quilt but made the diamonds instead of the curvy lines. haven't quilted it yet so would be interested in seeing yours.
