Default Symbols of NZ

Over the last few weeks I have been fortunate to meet up with 2 QB members who visited Cairns. Firstly was Emilias Nana and her husband who before touring in Australia also spent time in my home country New Zealand. I was able to show them round our local area and also take in our local group at the Cairns Craft Centre. As I have a stash of NZ fabrics I made a wall-hanging which I presented when I took her to our local get together at the Cairns Craft Centre. The wall hanging is based on traditional either bone or greenstone carvings made by the Maori people of NZ. The meaning of the symbols are as follows.
The first symbol represents Good Luck-especially for people travelling over water-appropriate for Emilias Nana as she flew out from USA)
The second symbol represents Eternity-2 people entwined together.
The third symbol is the Koru(found on Air New Zealand planes) and represents a fern frond unfolding so represents New Beginnings.
I think all these had meaning and were appropriate for a new found friendship.
This week I also met up with another QB member - Z from Guam who I was able to also show her around and include a visit to my local store- Cairns Craft Centre-Z also shares my addiction with fabric.
