I am a seamstress for a bridal shop. You have to pin the fabrics together about evey 2 inches when working with satin. It helps control the slippery fabric better. Also a walking foot helps or IDT for us Pfaff owners. You can serge or zig zag the seam allowances to control raveling. Lots of satins are washable now and with the proper seam finish, they wash very well.
