When my two oldest were born 1962 and 1966, I had anesthesia with them, third a spinal block. It did not affect them. It was called twilight sleep, on a whiff of gas with hard pains. Believe some have hard labor pains.
They seldom induce labor then. Waited for the baby to decide when they wanted to make the appearance.
