You will get as many opinions as there are batts. I use Hobbs 80/20 for most of my machine quilting. Some people like Hobbs poly down for a fluffier quilt. I have heard good things about the new wool batts for warmth, softness and ease in machine quilting. You don't mention if you are hand quilting or machine quilting. You might go to the batt manufacturer sites for a description on their batts.
