I gently tapped mine off using a wooden stick, that I made by cutting down a wooden spoon, and a small hammer. I repeatedly tapped a little bit, rotating the hand wheel after every tap, and it eventually came off.

Prior to that, I applied heat, and tried soaking the area with PB Blaster, which made no discernible difference.
