I bought the big mat (I think 30x60 or maybe bigger?) from Martelli when they had it for 1/2 price. It is the type that repairs itself. I really like it. I also have a 36x50 (I think) mat that is out of that really hard plastic or whatever it is called that evidently came from a quilting store. I really like that one too.
