Default Making Your Own Satin Binding

Have any of you ever made your own satin binding for a quilt? Is it pretty simple or is it a slippery nightmare?
My college age son requested a flannel quilt with satin binding, like his favorite blanket when he was a kid. That cracked me up, but I totally understand the attraction.
I was looking at Wrights single fold Satin Blanket Binding which is 2 inches wide. They have a lot of colors, but nothing just right. So I was thinking about trying to make my own. Any advice will be welcomed!
