I make my own satin bindings by using the flannel-backed-satin sold at JoAnns. I think I cut the strips about 8" and that gives a nice 2" wide binding on each side. This satin seems to hold up to all of the washings that these baby quilts get. My daughter received a crib quilt that had the normal satin binding and it did not stay nice after a few washes. (The application of this wide binding is different than the normal thin binding)
