It sounds like a machine is badged unless it is made, marketed and distributed by one company, or if a manufacturer has his own brand which is sold by a number of different retailers.
Many retailers and importers don't manufacture their own merchandise. They contract with different manufacturers to make their stuff. Some of those products are made to spec and are unique to that brand (like Kenmore and many store brands). Some importers have their own brand with unique products made to their specs which they sell to multiple retailers. Do we consider all those products badged? Some of your Sewmors look unique to me in that I haven't seen them with another name.
