If you're worried about piecing the triangles remember you can also do a 4 patch stack and whack and cut them in squares. You'll have a kaliedoscope look.
My guild has done stack and whacks a few times as a group and they're always a lot of fun. I still have yet to finish any of mine. I can never decide on the layout. I had mine up on my design wall for months. I think the best thing for me would be to not do an all over and turn them in to individual blocks at this point...
