One problem with stash building is years from now you'll pull out that fun piece you bought and never be able to find coordinating fabric. I've done this so many times that now I try to buy coordinating fabrics when I find something I love so I have enough to create a project-I make comfort quilts for teenagers so I try to go for 5 yards total at least.
