They work fine with proper basic service and some require long non standard needles. Best bet is too find a specific model in ebay or your local Craigs List that you would consider purchasing. Not difficult for anyone desiring to sew with one of these machines to do so by asking questions and searching the internet. Parts for these machines such as shuttles, bobbins and needles, are available. Most machines marked Davis are of the Vertical Feed type. National SMCo also made an electric Davis machine. Davis went out of buisness in 1924.
