If you have the studio cutter, they have acrylic dies. The area that is within the blades does not have foam, so you can see thru it and position the fabric. I'm guessing that you have to be careful when you flip the fabric & die over to put it into the machine, but the foam does help keep the fabric from slipping.
I'm pretty lucky. In addition to the Studio, I have a big Ellison cutter. The Ellison cuts with the blade down, so you put the fabric down, put the acrylic die on top, positioning it as you like, then just run it thru the cutter.
