If you find it too busy putting the blocks together, add sashing between them. If you add a 2 inch sash on the 13 1/2 side the blocks will be almost square again and you could turn them? Looking pretty!
yes this option would allow for turning and rotating, plus if you make the sashing a solid cream or light color it will maybe calm it down some.
