I also would buy local and try to make the kit up fairly soon after purchase in case there is not enough fabric and you would need more. I also like to see a sample made up as I have trouble envisioning what it will look like without seeing a sample. Also I have kits that I have kept so long I don't really like them anymore but I feel guilty if I don't make them. That being said, it seems that Connecting Threads kits are generous with fabric and allow for some leeway in case of mistakes.
