Great quilts this time, all!
I love gravy! My Pa (grandpa) used to make the best! He would use the drippings from the bacon, sausage, or ham he had cooked for breakfast, stir in flour (to make the roux), add in just a dab of sugar (or back in the day, sweet n low). Stir it til it was nice and brown just so. Then slowly stir in the milk, keep stirring and let it thicken just right. My Nanny's (grandma) home made biscuits along with Pa's gravy, YUM YUM!! These when Mom or I make the gravy, will use fat free canned milk. Not the sweetened condensed, just the reg can. We use ratio of half water, half the canned milk, then pour it in the roux mixture. It really tastes great. Now I am hankering for some good ole red eye gravy, home made biscuits, and Nanny's home made apricot, peach, or pear preserves...AHHHH... What high cholesterol???!!...
