An old spoon that is no longer needed has little grooves cut in edges of bowl of spoon and it makes a handy tool to do pinning of quilts and saves your fingers. My DH did this with a file. A grapefruit spoon works for this too but I use mine for grapefruit. :-) If you can crochet, you can save the tabs on the bakery items and make a necklace. (This was a gift to me about 30 years ago from a dear friend.)
