I agree that a narrow black sashing would set off your lovely blocks.

Quilting? hmmmmmm ..... as another poster suggested, how 'bout quilt as you go. I'd add additional rows of fancy stitches to quilt the layers together. Add the sashing, sew the blocks together, then add fancy stitches to the sashings. ..... or ..... if you don't want to quilt as you go, you could add the sashings, sew the blocks together, sandwich, (maybe stitch in the ditch around each block), then quilt by adding extra rows of fancy stitches inside the blocks and fancy stitches in the sashings.

In any case, it's a beautiful, useable Crazy Quilt!
