To go back to the original question - yes I took an old quilt and copied it. I saw a quilt hanging in a quilt store in PA - this is its picture:

Those diamonds are much smaller than what I had to use. Here's the quilt I made for my mom several years ago. The diamonds were cut by my g'ma (mom's mom who died in 1945). That's my Mom looking at the quilt w/ my brother holding it.
